Meet the Owner
Hello, my name is Deirdre I am dually licensed in the State of Nevada as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, a Licensed Clinical Drug and Alcohol Counselor, as well as a Substance Use Disorder Certified Counselor in the State of California. I earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from California State University – CSUN, 2013 and a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from University of Nevada Las Vegas – UNLV, 2018. I started a lifelong career in the helping field at 20-years old working as a 911 dispatcher for the Los Angeles Police Department, amongst other judicial branches, such as Justice Drug Court as a Specialty Court Coordinator, a contracted Psychotherapist for District Court's Mental Health Court, Drug Court, and Co-occurring Court, Department of Corrections as a Substance Abuse Group facilitator. I also worked social systems such as Clark County's CPS, Los Angeles County's DCFS, and foster care, along with a state ran adult psychiatric hospital. All these systems I worked, was not to be a part of the system, but to understand the needs of people, to develop into a well-rounded effective helper to improve society.
My work is ethically and professionally driven with a client-centered evidence-based approach to assist those who are suffering with Mental Health, Alcohol and Substance Use disorders in becoming actively involved in the positive change you desire to achieve in life; blended with a caring level of professional guidance. I enjoy working with teenagers who may be at risk of delinquency; along with adults suffering with psychosis, trauma, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, co-dependency, among other mental health conditions that may be troubling or impacting one's ability to function in daily life.
My therapeutic interventions utilized are CBT, DBT (mindfulness, effective communication, emotional intelligence, interpersonal effectiveness), Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused, Problem-Solving; all intermixed with Psychoeducation for a deeper understanding about self, symptoms, and behaviors attached to symptoms. My goal is to bring Zhen to the Brain, body, spirit and Fyuze them all back together to make YOU feel whole again. Through healing, we can improve the societal woes we are facing and enduring; one session at a time.
During a tumultuous time in early 2020, I was experiencing severe depression, anxiety, and Complex PTSD. After doing a bit of research, I found Dierdre Bonner and began my journey of healing. My history is one fraught with childhood sexual abuse, parental narcissistic abuse, emotional neglect, and multiple sexual assaults in my adulthood. Due to this, I have always struggled with extremely low self-esteem, low self-worth, and suicidal ideation. When I found Dierdre, I felt broken and was unsure that I could even be put back together again. I just knew that I wouldn’t survive if I didn’t reach out to someone for help.
Dierdre has helped me to not only survive, but to also thrive. Since working with her, I’ve made significant changes and improvements in my life, and I can actually envision a future for myself. For the first time in my life, I am in a healthy, stable, and loving relationship. I am making great strides in my professional career, and I have managed to sever ties with those who have caused me unimaginable pain and distress. I have learned how to be more proactive and assertive, pushing through fears and social anxiety to achieve my goals. Most importantly, I have learned to truly love and value myself and my abilities - all things I attribute to Dierdre’s encouragement and expertise. I always enjoy our sessions and often refer to her among friends as my “therapist auntie”. I am truly grateful for all of the help and support she has provided me, and I urge others to seek out her assistance for their own healing as well. Thank you Dierdre!
